Joan Fort Trio feat. Ben van Gelder

Joan Fort Trio is one of the latest projects of the catalan guitarist and composer based between Amsterdam and New York. Known for their dedication to swing and uplifting straight-ahead jazz, the trio draws deeply from the North American jazz tradition.

Together with his bandmates Philip Lewin on bass and David Puime on drums, they explore the boundaries of jazz. His music is a fusion of contemporary and traditional jazz, with improvisation, soul, and storytelling at its core. Fort sees his music as stories he shares with his audience: “Music as storytelling.”

After previous collaborations with, among others, Jeremy Pelt, Dick Oatts, Vincent Herring, Jorge Rossy, Grant Stewart, and Virginia McDonald, this time he invites none other than Ben van Gelder — one of today’s most influential alto saxophonists, both in the Netherlands and beyond. Expect an evening full of musical adventure and layered interaction.
