Gershwin Tribute x Isaac Turner Quintet
Gershwin remains one of — if not the most — celebrated American composers of the last century, leaving us timeless works such as An American in Paris, Rhapsody in Blue, and Summertime. Yet these beloved pieces are only a taste of a much larger catalogue. The Isaac Turner Quintet delves into Gershwin’s lesser-known compositions while honoring his most recognizable ones, guiding listeners through the vibrant sound world of early 20th-century Broadway in a quintet setting.
Isaac Turner is a young saxophonist from Atlanta, Georgia. Raised by an Italian mother and a father from the Deep South of the United States, he grew up surrounded by layered histories, languages, and traditions that shaped the way he hears and understands music. This background led Isaac to see music as a deeply communal activity, one rooted in listening, storytelling, and shared experience. Through Jazz, he aims to create performances with his Quintet that bring people together and reflect the cultural conversations that have influenced him throughout his life.
