New York, present day. John “Divine G” Whitfield (Colman Domingo) is wrongfully imprisoned in the high-security Sing Sing prison for a murder he did not commit. Behind bars, he finds an unexpected sense of purpose: together with fellow inmates – including the fiery newcomer Clarence “Divine Eye” Maclin (played by Clarence Maclin himself) – he starts a theatre group. What begins as a way to pass the time gradually grows into something much greater: a search for humanity, hope, and the power of art to heal a broken life.
