Female Spaces in Medieval Amsterdam
Medieval women had a profound impact on the social and urban fabric of Amsterdam. They often took the initiative to create something new: new communities, new forms of life for themselves. In this event, five historians explore women's pursuit of autonomy and communal living, their ideals, and their struggle’s with the city's government. Today, buildings, streets, and open spaces in central Amsterdam still stand as witnesses of these enterprising women and their view of the world.
