You are hereby cordially invited to join our Fancy Dress Party!
The hosts will entertain you with a concert composed of (freely improvised) musical conversations.
A musical show with roots in free jazz and with a light theatrical twist.
We cannot stress enough that this is a party in which you’re meant to dress fancily – we’re not using the expression in the British sense to mean “costume party”, and it would be extremely embarrassing for anyone (including the musicians) to show up in full costume.
This very special party will also double as the celebration of the release of the host’s debut album.
Thus, you can count with a very special show, filled with surprises.
The name of the record is “You’re Cordially Invited”, and not only it will be released digitally this day, but also everyone joining this party will be given an opportunity to acquire a vinyl pressing (in a glorious yellow tone), complete with two bonus tracks only available in this physical format.
The story of Fancy Dress Party starts in 2023, as a collaboration between Albert and Daniel, expert improvisers from the Dutch and Portuguese scene (respectively). In 2024, the duo becomes Fancy Dress Party once they're joined by Anastasiya on the cello. After frequently being told of how contemporary music (specifically, jazz) can be too elitist and circumspect, Daniel decided to put on a silly costume. With this simple change in their appearance, the group found out how differently and effusively the audience can connect with music of that same genre.
Brought to life by Jam With Humans, the music collective established in 2016 in Amsterdam, dedicated to teaching and performing disruptive and inclusive contemporary music.
