Erika Middleton-Sharpe + Parkland Music Project
Erika Middleton-Sharpe, guitar + vocals | Rob Malowany, vocals - Jasper Stadhouders, guitar - Onno Govaert, drums - Marielle Groven, viool + keyboard & Aaron Lumley, contrabasOn Friday November 13, Zaal 100 presents an evening of adventurous folksong and jazz-infused Americana featuring Vancouver's Parkland Music Project with his Amsterdam-based band and singer/songwriter Erika Middleton Sharpe!
Parkland Music Project is the ongoing collaboration between Vancouver-based singer/songwriter Rob Malowany and a global cast of musicians. In the fall of 2023 Malowany travelled to Amsterdam to record a new album, enlisting the help of guitarist Jasper Stadhouders, drummer Onno Govaert, keyboardist/violinist Marielle Groven and contrabassist Aaron Lumley. The resulting double LP, "Stoic Creatures," finds Malowany's passionate voice and heart-laid-bare songwriting swathed in ecstatic strains of free jazz and shoegazing post-rock.

Erika Middleton-Sharpe writes folk music for guitar and voice. Not quite a singer/songwriter, Erika's sound references places where she has lived and studied music. Grunge from the Pacific Northwest, jazz in New York City, country folk in Phoenix Arizona, and now classical and Anatolian influences in Amsterdam, NL. Deep, wide, weird, and persistent, Erika's music will take you on an emotional journey.
