Duman

Duman

The Turkish rock band Duman channels the raw energy of grunge and alternative rock, infused with influences from Turkish folk music. This unique blend was shaped in part by singer and guitarist Kaan Tangöze, who lived in Seattle during the early 1990s. Inspired by the local grunge scene, he brought those influences back to Turkey and fused them with his own musical roots. Since the release of their 1999 debut album, 'Eski Köprünün Altında', Duman has established itself as a major force in the Turkish rock scene. With powerful guitars, catchy choruses, and Tangöze’s distinctive vocals, the band has cultivated a sound that is entirely their own. Their songs explore relatable themes such as love, relationships, heartbreak, and everyday life—while also touching upon social issues. In doing so, Duman demonstrates that Turkish music can be far more than just traditional sounds. Raw, energetic, and compelling, the band merges Turkish roots with grunge to create a sound that is instantly recognizable.
