Drawing a Bamboo – A Introduction to Korean Painting

Drawing a Bamboo – A Introduction to Korean Painting
Discover the elegance and mindfulness of traditional Korean painting through the motif of bamboo, one of the most iconic subjects in East Asian art. In this workshop, artist and educator Kelly Jang will guide participants in exploring the expressive brush techniques, natural materials, and philosophical underpinnings of Sumukhwa (Korean ink painting).

This class offers more than just a technical introduction: students will be invited to slow down, observe nature, and experience the meditative rhythm of brush and ink. Working with traditional tools such as rice paper, ink, and Oriental brushes, participants will learn how to capture the essence of bamboo—a symbol of integrity and resilience. No prior experience is needed. Whether you are a complete beginner or curious about a new experience, this immersive session will offer a unique encounter with Korean visual culture.
