Downtown Boys
Since their formation, Downtown Boys have been tirelessly active as an artistic and political project. Singer Victoria Marie and guitarist/singer Joey La Neve DeFrancesco first met at trade union meetings whilst working together at a hotel in Providence, Rhode Island. Having subsequently formed a band, toured with them for years and released three critically acclaimed albums – including 2015’s ‘Full Communism’ and ‘Cost of Living’ – they continue to grow as artists, musicians and organisers. Now the band have released ‘Public Luxury’, a compelling album centred on politics. The album exudes a steadfast conviction that a better world is possible, whilst fully acknowledging the horrors we face on a daily basis, as well as the individual and collective responsibility to resist the nihilism and hopelessness we all feel.
