'Dance Films With Jake' presents 'Women on a Roll' & 'Dancehall Livity'

‘Dance Films with Jake’ are film evenings dedicated to the art of movement, dance, stories from the community, and cinematography.
Dancehall Livity (30 min ) offers a vivid portrayal of the experience and embodiment of dancehall moves, revealing the rich stories behind each step. Through this lens, the realities of Jamaican life come into sharp focus.
In Kingston, the bustling and vibrant heart of the island, dancehall culture pulses through the streets. Here, ghetto dancers make themselves heard, seen, and recognized. Dancehall reflects the struggles of daily life and provides a space where everyone can be someone.
Women on a Roll (15 min) is a short documentary that travels through the past, the present and the future of the roller skating culture in the city of Amsterdam, through the eyes of three women. Skating at iconic places in Amsterdam, we will also find out how the public spaces have been redefined to accommodate this reviving trend.
In a cinematic style, we will explore the story of roller skating with the voice over and the moves of iconic skaters from this city, and with the music from artists from The Netherlands.
