CYANOTYPE printmaking workshop for PERFORMANCE ARTISTS

Dear all,
Here a date for your calendars:
CYANOTYPE printmaking workshop for PERFORMANCE ARTISTS
A performer's portfolio is a professional tool that showcases skill and taste to potential public, programmers, or funds. It typically includes elements like professional artist photos, a documentation of events or image samples to represent the work. Potentially reviews or press clippings can be added to a biography. The specific content and format will vary by discipline, but the goal is to provide an aesthetic and contextual overview of the performer.
In this workshop we will create cyanotyped prints of images you may want to use for your portfolio. These can of course later be digitalized, but the intent is to generate something unique and crafted by the artists themselves. Before coming to the workshop, think about...
- Showcase Your Best Work:
Select high-impact pieces that demonstrate your style and strongest aesthetics.
- Demonstrate Range:
If applicable, include examples of different types of works, genres, or skills.
NB: Send these images to 4bidgallery@gmail.com at least 3 days in advance.

About the technique:
The English scientist and astronomer Sir John Herschel discovered the procedure in 1842. Though the process was developed by Herschel, he considered it as mainly a means of reproducing notes and diagrams, as in blueprints.
It was Anna Atkins who brought this to photography. She created a limited series of cyanotype books that documented ferns and other plant life from her extensive seaweed collection.
Atkins placed specimens directly onto coated paper, allowing the action of light to create a silhouette effect. By using this photogram process, Anna Atkins is regarded as the first female photographer.

We will explore the possibilities of this technique, from traditional expanding to different ways of producing negatives by drawing, collage, etch, digital printing etc..
No previous technical experience required.
