In 2026, on the 4th of July, the USA celebrates 250 years of independence – by bringing back the King. With Donald Trump in power, it feels like it’s been 250 years. "What a perfect time for another American Revolution," says Dutch-American comedian Greg Shapiro.

In preparation for his NL tour in the fall of 2026, Greg Shapiro presents a tryout of this Work-in-Progress.

Greg Shapiro is one of the originals at Boom Chicago theatre in Amsterdam. He has hosted Comedy Central News on Comedy Central Netherlands, and he has appeared on BNR, BNN-VARA, VPRO & ZDF (in Germany). And yes, he is known as the voice of Trump in the ‘Netherlands Second’ viral video with over 50 million views. As author, Greg has written books such as How to Be Dutch: the Quiz and The American Netherlander: 25 Years of Expat Tales.

The American Netherlander Greg Shapiro will also help you prepare for the US Midterm elections in November 2026 – if they are even allowed to happen this time. And since Shapiro is known for his Trump impression, will he be allowed back into his country of birth? Or will he be disappeared by ICE?)
