Claron & Thomas presenteren: Vocal Chords
This carefully curated new ensemble is made up of renowned soloists, each of whom has long earned their place in the Dutch music world. What may at first seem like a blend of different nationalities and ages is in fact united by a shared desire for new musical experiences.
A special program has been created for this occasion—one that cannot (yet) be captured under a single label. Influences from film music, tango, jazz, Brazilian and African music, as well as classical traditions, merge into a unique musical language. Solo improvisations within the ensemble also form an important part of this concert.
The ensemble is led by composer and arranger Thomas Welvaadt. He began his career as a jazz trumpeter before moving on to write arrangements for Jazz, Latin, and Pop ensembles. More recently, he has composed for the Ricciotti Ensemble, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. His own compositions are often described as "cinematic."
