Chapter 1: Unfolding Universes
What conditions make flow possible in a world built for speed and productivity?
Join artist Rosa Vrij's first edition of her series Unfolding Universes – a series of talks and performance games surrounding her interdisciplinary works around one continuous research project.
Tickets
Unfolding Universes is a new bi-monthly series in which Rosa Vrij shares fragments of her evolving artistic research. Each edition reveals part of a long-term “universe” that unfolds through drawing, performance, and world-building.
For Edition #1, Rosa invites the audience into her project Flow state. Through drawing experiments, journal fragments, and daily rituals, she examines how creative flow emerges, and how it is affected by neuro-normative expectations, pressure, and speed. The evening offers a quiet space to reflect on creativity as a nurturing process rather than a productive demand.
About Unfolding Universes
Across six evenings in 2026, Rosa Vrij shares different stages of her long-term research projects. Each “universe” develops over multiple years, generating drawings, performances, structures, and game-like instructions that explore how we sense, imagine, and organise the world.
Participants will get the opportunity to not only peek into Rosa’s research but dive together in a creative universe where together you will reflect on the connections between neurodiversity, space, and daily rituals where slowness makes its way in the face of our fast-paced environment. Unfolding Universes embraces experimentality as the character of the event sits between an artist talk and an engaging performance game.

About Rosa Vrij
As a performance maker and visual artist, Rosa creates universes around a central research theme. Within these universes, a series of artworks arise, building upon each other: from interactive book presentations to live drawings. Often, she reverses the roles of the audience and the artwork, inviting the audience to act as co-creators in her exploration of the boundaries between the body and architecture. Her inspiration draws from video games and board games, and the instructional methods these media employ.
Rosa's work is rooted in intersectional feminism and anti-capitalism. She thinks the focus on economic value, efficiency and competition has gone way overboard in our society. Her work activates the senses so that the audience can meet themselves, each other and their environment in the here and now.
About Haptic Lab
The Haptic Lab focuses on tactile and proprioceptive research by challenging authority and established norms collectively, through ‘craftivism’ and parallel-play.
We believe that exploring touch and movement is particularly relevant to understanding and celebrating neurodiversity, as individuals with diverse sensory processing styles can offer unique insights. With the introduction of the costume-lab in 2022 we discovered the need for a space where this research can be done collectively. Alongside fashion and textile design, this workspace has transformed to include spatial design and traditional crafts, all focused on how our body experiences its exterior.
