About Ceuvel Kijkt: Entrepreneurs from Noord

Amsterdam Noord is full of remarkable entrepreneurs. Makers, thinkers and doers who use courage and creativity to work on the city of the future. This is exactly where initiatives arise that are social, sustainable and innovative. During Ceuvel Kijkt: Entrepreneurs from Noord you get to know these entrepreneurs and their stories. What drives them, what challenges do they face and what can you learn from them?

Each evening is curated by a host: an entrepreneur from Noord with an inspiring story. The host chooses a film or documentary that connects to their work or fascination and introduces the film themselves. Afterwards you enter into conversation with the host and other visitors, and there is a surprising interactive element such as a tasting, demonstration or mini workshop.

So this is not a passive film night, but an evening of personal stories and encounters. Expect inspiration, new perspectives and a chance to experience the entrepreneurial power of Noord up close.

Meet the host of this evening: Coen Dijkstra

On 10 December photographer Coen Dijkstra is our guest. You may know him from the project Wat Niet Mag Wijken, which he created together with cultural entrepreneur Bart Verbunt. Together they captured the soul of threatened places in Amsterdam Noord: Coen in images, Bart in words.

What motivates someone to give themselves completely to a project like this? This evening we dive into the driving forces behind the camera. Coen shares the honest story about the vision, the struggle and the happy coincidences during the making process.

The conversation goes beyond photography. It is about your role as an entrepreneur in your living environment. How do you turn “looking” into “seeing”, and then into “doing”? We explore the shift from protecting what is under threat to disappear, to actively shaping the future yourself. A plea for cooperative thinking and active imagination.

Expect an evening with inspiring visual material and video fragments that sparked the project. We will not only look back, but especially forward. Together with the audience we explore how we can ignite that collective power of imagination. Come listen, watch and think along.
