Bring Drag Back to the Theatre #2: Live Lips

Hot GLAM! Plein Theater and Lesbique are hosting a new series of Drag Nights!

The 24th of april the second edition of Bring Drag Back to The Theatre is upon us. Drag comes in many forms shapes and colours. This evening is all about the voices and lips, not lipsyncs though! Lesbique & Plein Theater presents three drag artists who will sing live for us.

Expect an intimate setting in which Pia Vapeur will bring the 40's back to live, with a jazzy and chanson style of German and French songs. Decibel will take you on a journey of power ballads with songs of Adele. And Jamal Le Coq will host the evening, tickling your senses with eargasms bringing D'Angelo vibes to ride and glide on.

About the artists

Decibel is a sonorous force to be reckoned with; she commands the room by expertly fusing gender subversion with high camp to create a truly unforgettable presence. As a vocal powerhouse she lulls an audience with emotional clarity only to rouse them again during each songs climax.

Born in Amsterdam, Jamal le Coq is the drag king you simply must see live. Singing, and sometimes dancing, he seduces you into his world. Will you join in, or would you rather just watch?

Pia Vapeur is the theatrical alter ego of artist and performer Jeroen Fransen. In this persona, music, performance, and visual art come together. Pia functions as a medium in which a more feminine, refined, and theatrical sensibility can be expressed.

Inspired by the music and aesthetics of the first half of the twentieth century — from tango and waltz to jazz standards — Pia often sings live over historical orchestral recordings. Her voice blends with the sounds of old records, creating a dialogue between past and present.

Costume, hats, and theatrical presence form an essential part of the work. Pia Vapeur moves between nostalgia and performance, between cabaret and art. In her performances, an atmosphere of longing and stillness emerges, in which the audience is briefly lifted out of time.

About Bring Drag Back to the Theatre

Bring Drag Back to the Theatre is a bold and extravagant homage to DRAG in all its glittering glory. DRAG is not just a trend, it's a lavish, rebellious art form with centuries of history. Born in the theatre, drag emerged at a time when women were forbidden to step on stage, and men took on female roles, bending gender long before it was cool.

Beyond the velvet curtains, drag has always ruled the night. It shaped nightlife, fueled creative revolutions across the globe, and stood courageously on the front lines of LGBTIQ+ emancipation — then and now.

This dazzling series of drag evenings at Plein Theatre is an ode to the art of drag in all its forms. Expect iconic history, bold storytelling, and a glorious spectrum of drag artistry as the most fabulous Queens, Kings, and fluid drag personas command the stage.

Join us on a journey where we bring drag back to the theatre — where it belongs — and celebrate, admire, and revel in its power, beauty, and unapologetic fabulousness.
