BANK FOR INTERNATIONAL SETTLEMENTS by Remco Torenbosch

Remco Torenbosch in conversation with Zippora Elders Tahalele at 6.30pm

In this publication, that is part of a new body of work, artist Remco Torenbosch examines the Bank for International Settlements, one of the most powerful yet publicly almost invisible financial institutions in the world. Tracing its origins in interwar Germany, the study reveals how the Bank’s debt management accelerated social collapse and enabled the rise of fascism, while exposing its continuing influence in global sovereign debt restructuring. The publication confronts the political consequences of debt-based governance by financial institutions—an urgent issue in today’s volatile geopolitical and economic climate.

Remco Torenbosch is an artist. His work has been exhibited at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Kunsthalle Wien, Victoria and Albert Museum London, Kunsthaus Zürich, Fondazione Antonio Ratti Como, De Appel Amsterdam, GAMeC Bergamo, among others. He has been a lecturer at several institutions including Yale School of Art New Haven, ArtCenter Pasadena, IULM University of Milan, among others.
