Artist talk AnnaMaria Pinaka & Simone Rossi
In the framework of the exhibition She Keeps Them Warm With Her Skirt by AnnaMaria Pinaka, we host a conversation between the artist and researcher Simone Rossi. The talk will address Pinaka’s artistic practice, its recurring themes (such as porno-graphing, choreography of innocence and dirtiness, queer femmness and futurity, autoethnography) and the works presented in the exhibition, alongside the theoretical trajectories informing her research.
This event is part of Scrapscapes of Resistance, a research project by Simone Rossi supported by the Italian Council (13th edition, Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity, Italian Ministry of Culture).
Simone Rossi is an independent researcher in visual culture and a recipient of the 13th Italian Council grant, an initiative by the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture. Rossi earned a Ph.D. through a joint program between Università Iuav di Venezia and Universidade de São Paulo, with a dissertation exploring scrapbooking as a form of resistance, particularly within the Brazilian art scene of the 1970s and 1980s, as well as its relevance to contemporary art publishing. A contributor to international academic journals, his research engages with major archives including the Reina Sofía Museum (Madrid), Getty Research Institute (Los Angeles), Fundação Vera Chaves Barcellos (Porto Alegre), and Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo. Recent curatorial projects include pop-up exhibitions at Platform-L Contemporary Art Center (Seoul) and Now Instant Image Hall (Los Angeles). His upcoming exhibition Queering Resistance, focused on artist Hudinilson Jr.’s collage practice, opens at Archivo Arkhé (Madrid) on 19 June 2025.Support
