A fresh feminine fusion of Latin Jazz & Greek music by Lydia Stavraki Trio

(English below) Het Lydia Stavraki trio is een bruisend crossover project waarin
bolero's en bossa nova's worden herontdekt. Uitgerust met origineel
werk en arrangementen combineren zij elementen uit de Latin, jazz-
en Griekse muziek. Het publiek zal worden meegenomen in een
harmonieuze, dichterlijke en swingende show!
Lydia Stavraki is geboren in Athene in 1994. Ze begon acht jaar
oud met zingen en pianospelen. Op haar negentiende verhuisde ze
naar Nederland om psychologie te studeren aan de Universiteit
Leiden, maar al snel vond ze haar weg naar de Nederlandse
muziekscene. Ze speelde in verschillende ensembles, van jazz tot
Griekse muziek. Ze heeft haar bachelor in psychologie aan Leiden
Universiteit en Latin Jazz gehaald aan Codarts Rotterdam, waar ze
les kreeg van Jarmo Hoogendijk en Lilian Vieira. In 2022 kreeg ze
de NL Scholarship, wat haar de kans gaf om haar kennis van
Braziliaanse muziek te verdiepen tijdens een semester aan de
Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in Brazilië. Tussen 2023 en
2024 was ze lid van het Nederlands Jazz Jeugd Orkest (NJJO)
onder leiding van de bekende muzikante Maite Hontelé. Uit het hart van het geel-blauwe Villa Crespo in Buenos Aires komt
de eclectische Latin-pianiste Anita Fiszman (1995). Geïnspireerd
door haar Europese voorouders en Argentijnse roots, vindt Ana het
belangrijk om verschillende culturen en mensen samen te brengen.
Ana’s akoestische pianogeluid en haar repertoire – een fusie van
diverse Latijns-Amerikaanse ritmes met invloeden uit de jazz en
funk – bevatten herkenbare elementen van haar grootste invloeden:
Chick Corea, Chucho Valdés en Eliane Elias. Na haar studie aan de Escuela de Música Contemporánea (onderdeel van Berklee
Global Partners) verhuisde ze naar Nederland, waar ze momenteel
woont en haar bachelor Latin piano volgde aan Codarts. Chieko Donker Duyvis (1997) is een interdisciplinaire kunstenaar,
celliste, zangeres en componiste uit Amsterdam met
Braziliaanse/Japanse roots. Haar unieke manier van cellospelen en
zingen in haar composities resulteerde in verschillende tournees
door Europa en Azië, artistieke residenties in Brazilië en Mexico,
optredens op het EuroJazz-festival en grote podia in Nederland,
zoals het Concertgebouw en het Bimhuis, met haar eigen muziek.
Als interdisciplinaire kunstenaar in hart en nieren ontwikkelde ze
zich in het theater, creëerde ze muziek voor verschillende
internationale documentaires, werkte ze samen met dans- en
beeldende kunstenaars en creëerde ze origineel nieuw werk. Ze
speelde in speciale projecten met leden van het
Concertgebouworkest en was Artist in Focus voor Cello Biennale
2024, waar ze werd uitgenodigd als soliste bij het Nederlands
Blazersensemble en haar nieuwe composities voor cello, zang en
blaasorkest in première bracht tijdens een tournee door Nederland.

This new project aims to reimagine the tenderness of bolero's and
bossa's in a fresh, feminine, crossover way. While respecting the
traditional elements, the trio aims to fuse Latin with jazz & Greek
music through originals & arrangements. Harmonies blended with
poetry and dynamic rhythms embrace the audience, drawing them
into immersive images. Lydia Stavraki was born in Athens in 1994. She started singing and
playing the piano at the age of eight. At nineteen she moved to the
Netherlands to study psychology at Leiden University, but quickly
found her way into the Dutch music scene and began playing in
various ensembles from jazz to Greek music. She received her BSc
in psychology and BA in Latin Jazz music from Codarts Rotterdam
with teachers Jarmo Hoogendijk and Lilian Vieira. In 2022, she
received the NL Scholarship, which gave her the opportunity to
deepen her knowledge of Brazilian music during a semester at the
Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Between 2023 and
2024, she was a member of the Dutch National Youth Jazz
Orchestra (NJJO) under the direction of renowned musician Maite
Hontelé. From the heart of the yellow and blue Villa Crespo, Buenos Aires,
comes eclectic Latin-pianist Anita Fiszman (1995). Inspired by her
European ancestors and Argentinian roots, it’s important for Ana to
bring different cultures and people together. Ana’s acoustic piano
sound, and her repertoire, a fusion of many Latin American rhythms
with some jazz and funk, contain some recognizable sounds of her
most important influences: Chick Corea, Chucho Valdés, and Eliane
Elias. After finishing her studies at Escuela de Música
Contemporánea (part of Berklee Global Partners), she moved to
The Netherlands (where she is currently based), where she
pursued her Latin piano bachelor at Codarts. translate this to dutch

vocalist and composer from Amsterdam with Brazilian/Japanese
roots.
Her unique way of playing the cello and voice in her compositions
resulted in several tours through Europe, Asia, artistic residencies
in Brazil and Mexico tours, playing at EuroJazz festival and major
stages in NL like Concertgebouw and Bimhuis with her original
music. An interdisciplinary artist at heart, she developed herself into
performing theatre, creating scores for several international
documentaries, working with dance and visual artists, creating
original new work.
She played special projects with members of Concertgebouw
orchestra and was Artist in Focus for Cello Biennale 2024, where she was invited as a soloist with Dutch Wind Ensemble, premiering
her new compositions for cello, voice and wind orchestra in a tour
through the Netherlands.
