e a diverse\nevening for adventurous listeners. The oud\, Andean percussio
n\, post rock\nabstraction and the DJ booth coalesce with electronics in e
xperimental practices\nfrom across the globe. We present this concert at t
he Dokzaal in the center of\nAmsterdam. Four sets of music presented this
evening come from exceptional\nthinkers. Able Noise’s Virtuosic songwritin
g\, Kareem’s masterful oud playing\,\nLoma Doom’s thought provoking DJ mix
ing and the re-contextualization of a\ntraditional Andean practice come to
gether in a wildly varied evening of sound.\nWe invite your ears and heart
to join us as we delve into deep practices from\nour visiting artists.\n\
nDinner from 18:30 | Concert begins at 20:00 – 00:00 Tickets sliding scale
	 €8 –\n€25 [https:]\n\n \n\nLoma Doom\n\nSound practitioner\, educator\, a
nd researcher\, Loma Doom has long been immersed\nin both sound and educat
	ion. Across lecture halls\, archives\, festivals\, art\ngalleries\, indepe
ndent radio stations\, and dance floors\, she orbits a central\nquestion:
What if listening itself were an artistic practice? What might unfold\nwhe
	n listening becomes method\, medium\, and material?\n\nFor LOKAAL\, she wi
ll present ‘Open Field’: a performance sonyfying the thoughts\nthat emerge
d from her research: what happens when you give something your\nradical at
tention and what is your response(ability) as a performing listener?\n\n—\
n\nAble Noise Able Noise is George and Alex’ experimental baritone guitar
and drum\nduo\, based between The Hague\, the Netherlands and Athens\, Gre
ece. Through the\nuse of voice\, tape and alternative methods of playing t
heir instruments\, they\ncreate a minimal and visual musical performance.
Their output is primarily\nfocused on live concerts\, letting their music
be shaped by the physicality of\ntheir playing\, the acoustic and aestheti
c properties of the space\, and the\ndynamics formed between themselves an
d their audience. Their recorded work\nrelies less on their respective ins
truments\, and more on an assemblage of field\nrecordings\, heavily proces
sed instrumentation\, and exploratory mixing\ntechniques. They released th
eir debut on the Glasgow label GLARC in 2020\, and\ntheir debut LP ‘High T
ide’ was released on the 1st of November 2024 through\nLondon label World
	of Echo.\n\nPhoto credit: Marina Fragodiaki\n\n—\n\nKareem Samara\n\nKaree
m Samara is an improviser and composer from London. Combining the Oud and\
nArabic percussion with loopers and samplers\, he creates a new dialogue b
etween\nhimself and technology\, between traditions and the future. He pus
hes the limits\nof what is expected of an instrument weighed down by gener
ations of expectation\,\nexploring every inch of the Oud to create a moder
	n soundworld. A ceremony\, a\ndeclaration of intent\, where archival inter
views and field recordings connect\nstruggles and timelines\, interweaving
with melodies that strive to be free of\nborders.\n\nHe is member of 1000
Pounds to Survive Us and founder of the improvisational\nensemble\, I.E.
Us.He has performed and collaborated with Nadah El Shazly\, Ayman\nAsfour\
	, Goat Girl\, Ryan Harvey\, Tom Morello\, Tashi Dorji\, Kinn\, Matt Cargil
l\,\nFatima Laham and Bint Mbare.\n\n—\n\nA Tropa (under the direction of
Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti) The last two years\nIbelisse has been researc
hing the music of her beloved Andes\, in Bolivia. This\nmusic is not just
‘music’\, it is part of an intricate ecosystem from an ancient\nbut living
culture. What we call rituals is merely a means to enter in a\ncollective
field\, where a constant dialogue with our surroundings takes place.\nSou
nd making has a central role during these communal bondings. For LOKAAL\,\
nIbelisse -together with the members of AWICHAS- are extending an OPEN CAL
L to\nanyone that is curious to learn about Andean tropas or Andean Orches
tras. We\nwill not only share Andean playful worldviews of sound making\,
but we will play\nlots of drums!\n\n“Unlike a conventional orchestra\, the
‘tropa’ operates under a logic of\nreciprocity and complementarity\, wher
e music is not an individual spectacle\, but\nan act of social cohesion.”
