DESCRIPTION:“What flavors place\, what place flavors?” Posed by Christina S
harpe in her book\nOrdinary Notes\, this question lingers in the space bet
ween land and taste. How\ndoes place\, how does land\, persist even when t
erritory fractures? What stories\,\nhistories\, and rituals do we carry wi
th us through food? Ingredients\, gestures\,\nand tastes become a living a
rchive carried within and through our daily\npractices of making—kneading\
	, fermenting\, grinding\, storing\, carrying.\n\nUsing food as a way to ho
ld and transmit knowledge\, during this day of gathering\nwe will come tog
ether to activate a newly created tonir-style clay oven and a\nsmall stove
at Four Siblings. The oven was built during an earlier workshop\n[https:]
in May with transdisciplinary artist Tatiana M. Mélo. We will prepare\nfo
od\, cook\, and eat together as a way to share knowledge about food system
s\,\nforgotten recipes\, and lost rituals. We will be joined by Martina Ma
nterola and\nCarmen Serra\, cofounders of colectivo amasijo\, an intergene
	rational feminist\ncollective who work across art\, cooking\, and land-bas
ed pedagogy. They will join\nus in activating the ovens through their own
rituals\, practices\, and foods.\nTogether with Tatiana we will also be cr
eating small clay structures and\nsculptures to bake bread inside of.\n\nT
he residency with colectivo amasijo is part of the Exchanges programme by
the\nPrince Claus Fund\, with the support of the Amsterdam City Council.\n

lendelaan 1\, 1064 GW Amsterdam\n\ncolectivo amasijo is a feminist collect
ive composed of women from various\ndisciplines and generations\, working
	across art\, cooking\, and land-based\npedagogy. amasijo’s approach center
s on collaborative cooking and agriculture as\nforms of resistance and lan
d regeneration. They are united in their desire to\nactively reflect on th
e origin and diversity of our food. Since their formation\nin 2019 they ha
ve been providing a platform for non–dominant voices: the\nnarratives of w
omen close to the land\, stories that tell us the real cost of\nclimate ch
ange and show us the way towards the regeneration of the land. Through\nth
eir projects\, that can take the form of gatherings\, dinners\, research\,
	\nactions\, ceremonies\, exhibitions\, markets\, seminars\, film\, or talk
s\, the\ncollective builds the needed structures to form a community in wh
ich taking care\nof ourselves and taking care of the territory we inhabit
is priority. Their\npractice insists on care\, circular knowledge\, and em
bodied time — challenging\nextractive logics through feminist\, decolonial
	 methodologies.\n\nInstagram colectivo amasijo [https:]\n\nTatiana M. Melo
is a transdisciplinary artist from Barcelona\, living in the\ncountryside
of La Garrotxa. She works with clay and ceramics—activating the\nmemory o
f territory through ritual objects made with stones\, ashes\, and words\ng
athered from the community. Her practice centers on the transformation of
soil\ninto kilns\, understood not only as firing tools\, but as spaces of
encounter\,\ntransformation\, and ritual. She explores clay as an ancestra
l material\, applying\nsustainable practices to construction and everyday
objects. She has organized\nworkshops and gatherings on collective buildin
g\, ceramics\, and community\,\ncollaborating with artists and researchers
to rethink the relationship between\nhumans\, materials\, and the environ
ment.\n\nInstagram Tatiana M. Melo [https:]\n\nFour Siblings is a land bas
ed art and research project. They come together to\ncreate an edible labyr
inth in the shape of an artwork in the threshold of the\ncity of Amsterdam
. They want to create a sense of belonging to the earth we live\non\, to t
he food we eat. They investigate collective ways of generating knowledge\n
and make it as open source as possible. They want to do so in a mutually\ns
upportive way—care for our bodies while we care for the land\, bring back\
nbiodiversity and seed resources\, generate new local networks between art
ists\,\nfarmers\, permaculturists\, and residents\, while learning by doin
