DESCRIPTION:19:00 (doors: 18:30) Tickets: pay what you can\n\n \n\nDanya Pi
lchen and Jasna Veličković invite you to the first edition of their new\nc
oncert series\n\nIT’S ABOUT TIME!!\n\n \n\nThe series centres on research-
based practices that evade definition and do not\nfit within\n\ntraditiona
l new music concert situations and genres. It focuses especially on\nartis
ts that work in\n\nthe boundaries between media and that have imaginative
approaches to time and\nspace.\n\nEvery edition of IT’S ABOUT TIME!! will
	feature composers\, performers\, and\ninterdisciplinary\n\nartists\, invit
ing them to showcase their practices through lectures and Q&As\nfollowed b
	y\n\nperformances or fixed-media demonstrations.\n\nFor the first edition\
, Danya will prepare an improvisatory work highlighting the\nrelationship\
n\nbetween perceptions of space and time through acoustic feedback\, spati
alisation\,\nand field\n\nrecordings\, and Jasna will present insights fro
	m her long-term project The Art\nof Coil\, in which\n\nshe explores electr
omagnetic phenomena as both sound source and compositional\nmaterial.\n\n
\n\nDanya Pilchen [https:] is a composer based in The Hague. His main inte
rest lies\nin the human\n\nexperience of time and music’s ability to shed
light on it. He has composed for\na wide range of\n\nsettings\, including
	solo\, ensemble\, and orchestra\, as well as theatre\nproductions. A signi
ficant\n\npart of his practice involves creating immersive sound installat
	ions that\nincorporate instrumental\n\nperformances.\n\nDanya’s music is c
losely intertwined with his research into collective\nexperiences of time
in\n\nmusical practices. Understanding time as an emerging property of con
sciousness\naffected by\n\nsocial interactions necessitates increased atte
ntion to the relationships\nbetween musicians and\n\naudiences in Danya’s
pieces. To facilitate these interactions\, he employs\nvarious composition
al\n\nstrategies and listening techniques engaging the materiality of soun
d.\n\n \n\nJasna Veličković [https:] is a composer based in Amsterdam. Sin
ce 2008\, Jasna\nhas been\n\nexperimenting with and researching within the
sound world of the magnetic\nfield—the\n\nomnipresent\, yet usually compl
etely silent elements in human life. Her journey\ninto the unknown\n\nstar
ted with an exploration of the sound produced by manipulating coils as par
ts\nof complex\n\nsound systems\, including classical instruments as sound
sources. A purely\nserendipitous event\n\nin 2013 led her to the discover
y that magnets can also produce sounds when\napplied to coils in\n\ncertai
n ways. This discovery ultimately resulted in the invention of the\nVelico
n\, the instrument\n\nwhich she has been composing for and performing on e
ver since. The\ninvestigations of the\n\nmusical force of the magnetic fie
ld also led to the introduction of other\nseemingly silent objects\n\nas s
	ound sources.
