DESCRIPTION:New series of events where we meet COMPOSERS IN FIRST PERSON. G
	ROND\nBijdorpstraat 1\, Amsterdam\, Netherlands 19:00 (doors: 18:30) Donat
ion based\n\nIT’S ABOUT TIME!! proudly presents composers Thanasis Deligia
nnis and Amba\nKlapwijk!\n\nThanasis will share excerpts from some of his
recent works and talk about how he\nmakes them. In his practice\, he is in
terested in the creative process more than\nin composing a predetermined r
	esult – working with time\, resources\, materials\nand spaces as part of t
he composition itself\, and being attentive to the\ndifferent relationship
s that develop with collaborators. This also raises\nquestions about what
it means to call oneself a composer when composition\nexpands beyond music
\, and when working across disciplines becomes\ntransdisciplinary. He woul
d like to bring these questions into the presentation\nand open them up fo
r discussion.\n\nThanasis Deligiannis [http:] is an artist\, composer and
director based in\nAmsterdam. His work moves between sound\, performance\,
visual installation and\nresearch\, with a particular interest in the ten
sions and exchanges between rural\nand urban cultures. He composes experie
nces in time and space\, designing the\nconditions through which a work ca
n take shape. Alongside his artistic work\, he\nteaches at the Conservator
ium van Amsterdam.\n\n“I will present an ongoing project in which I’m coll
aborating with pianist\nCarlota Carvalho and artist Akina Yoshitake Lopez.
The project includes a\nmusical composition for solo piano (Teder)\, a fi
lm\, and a live performance. We\nwill look at some video fragments of the
film in progress\, listen to Teder\, and\nI will share my thoughts on this
project and how we could continue.”\n\nAmba Klapwijk [https:] is a compos
er and creator based in The Hague. She is\ninspired by landscapes\, experi
ences in nature\, poetry\, philosophy and visual\narts. Sea foam\, seasona
	l changes\, light reflections\, long subtle sound changes\,\nand immersive
ness fascinate her. Her work includes musical compositions\,\ninstallation
	s\, film\, poetry and photography. In 2019\, she was\nartist-in-residence
at the Iowa Lakeside Laboratory in America\, a biological\nfield station a
nd nature preserve. Her work has been performed by the Herz\nEnsemble\, En
semble Klang\, the Residentie Orkest\, the Rotterdam Student\nOrchestra\,
Kristia Michael and the Kali Ensemble\, and Input Duo.\n\nIT’S ABOUT TIME!
! is initiated by composers Jasna Veličković and Danya Pilchen.\nWe invite
you to GROND to meet\, listen and to plant some seeds for future\npossibi
lities together.\n\n***Thank you for helping us bring this event to life!
