	ion\, users resurfaced\nearly Instagram filters and interfaces\, Tumblr-mo
	tivational quotes\, old memes\,\nand other fragments of a supposedly simpl
	er internet. Collectively\, it became a\nmeditation on how social media us
	ed to be better\, or at least how much it felt\nbetter. Though users relie
	d on a more generalised nostalgia to resurrect the\naesthetic of the time\
	, they were\, in a sense\, correct. The internet really did\nfeel differen
	t. 2016 was the year that all news feeds became algorithmic\, and\nwith it
	 our relationship with social media fundamentally\nchanged.‎Serendipitousl
	y\, The Hmm was also born ten years ago\, in 2016. Since\nthen\, we have t
	ried to trace\, interrogate and intervene in the forces shaping\nour onlin
	e lives\, including the algorithmic feed itself. To celebrate this\nlegacy
	\, we are throwing a festive evening at W139 in Amsterdam\, filled with\np
