About the Workshop

Want to grow your own plants but you don’t have a garden? No problem. Create a “Wicking Bed” for a self-sufficient mini-garden in a small outdoor space like your facade or balcony.

In this workshop, you will build a self-watering irrigation system to efficiently care for your plants and save water. Through practical demonstrations and hands-on experience, you’ll learn how to get started at home and contribute to a more sustainable and greener living environment in Amsterdam-Noord. You will also take home materials to create your own Wicking Bed.

Location

The workshops take place in the circular greenhouse at De Ceuvel. This inspiring learning environment is used to experiment with innovative ways to grow plants.

Preparation

No prior knowledge is required. The design of these workshops, combined with the experience of teacher Andrei, makes them accessible to anyone interested in growing food at home and “getting their hands dirty.” We will provide gardening gloves, but you’re welcome to bring your own. Please wear clothing that can get dirty.

This gardening workshop is part of a series of three. The workshops can be attended individually. Can’t make it this time? A new series will be offered after the summer.
