Workshop Cyano | Warming Up Festival

Discover the power of unexpected printing techniques and work with materials that are usually seen as waste. How can you repurpose old objects and give them new value?
In this workshop, we take inspiration from the work of graphic designer Karel Martens, who experiments with found objects and creates prints using scraps and old maps.
We’ll explore techniques such as pattern and block printing, creating collagraphs from cardboard, and making unique prints using found materials. Bring small objects with texture or relief (like keys, bottle caps, bits of plastic or fabric) and combine them with the materials available — the result is a surprising mix of image and texture.
It’s not about perfection, but about discovering how much value and potential lies in materials we usually throw away. From a self-designed artwork to a printed T-shirt, anything can emerge from the most unexpected “waste” materials.
