How do you respond when reality clashes with your ideals? Do you care enough to make a difference? Can we still reimagine our society? And how does music move people? Join us for the launch of Young Shots to listen to protest songs and talk about democracy.

Many of us grew up in a democracy. But there are still people around us who lived through different political systems, and who experienced the transitions that followed. When thinking and talking about democracy today, it’s really worth tapping into their wisdom to grasp what's needed for democracy to fulfil its promises for everyone.

Join us for an afternoon with stories, songs and conversations about democracy hosted by Dr. Krisztina Lajosi.

Following a screening of the documentary “Is democracy worth the trouble?”, students from UvA will share their reflections on songs that move people, both today and in the past. In the final part of the event, you’re welcome to share your thoughts (and songs!).

This event is free of charge and open to all. We do ask you to register for the event beforehand. The event takes place at VOX-POP (groundfloor), Binnengasthuisstraat 9.
