Wat blijft is de muziek

A tragic story full of hope with music that has long remained hidden. Pianist Imri Talgam plays previously unperformed work by Menachem Asscher, a pianist and composer who was sent to Germany at the age of 22 and never returned. Lilian Kars uses fragments from, among others, Danseres zonder benen by Menachem's mother Clara Asscher-Pinkhof to tell Menachem's story, which comes to life with music by Beethoven and Bach, among others. A 'storytelling concert' that leaves no one unmoved.
Shira Miriam Cohen, soprano, will perform a song based on the text of Chaim Nachman Bialik and set to music by Jozef Pinkhof, the uncle of Menachem Asscher. Jozef was a very good violinist and composed this music in Bergen-Belsen. Shira Miriam Cohen is the granddaughter of Shmu'el Hacohen, Menachem's brother-in-law, which makes her presence all the more special!
