Voices of Resilience: The Architecture of Anxiety – Biology, Story, and the Path to Resilience

On May 7th, this edition of Voices of Resilience delves into the neuroscience of anxiety; the intersection where biological blueprints, life experience, personal storytelling, music and comedy collide.

We often use the word “anxious,” but the internal reality is complex. This evening, we peel back the layers to ask:

State vs. Trait: What is the fundamental difference between a passing feeling and a lived condition?

The False Alarm: What happens in the brain when threat systems ignite in the absence of real danger?

The Feedback Loop: How do thought patterns, memory, and physiology reinforce anxiety—and more importantly, how can they be disrupted?

The Experience We believe science is best understood when it’s felt. This event brings together a neuroscientist, storytellers, a musician, and a comedian to dissect anxiety from every angle. It’s a synthesis of hard data and soft humanity—moving from the mechanics of neural circuits to the personal narratives that give those mechanisms meaning.

The Dialogue Through immersive sound, storytelling, and expert conversation, we move between the “why” and the “how.” You’ll gain a clearer understanding of your nervous system and discover new ways to relate to your internal world.

The evening includes a dedicated Q&A session. Whether you prefer to speak up openly or submit questions anonymously, we invite you to engage in a space that is grounded, informative, and deeply human.
