Trees for Amsterdam

On Saturday, November 7, 2026, De Gezonde Stad will be giving away thousands of small trees at the Tolhuistuin!

You can choose from two varieties: the Wild Apple and the Yellow Dogwood. Both are great for biodiversity, require little maintenance, and do well in a pot (which is nice if you don’t have a garden).

Bonus: when you pick up your sapling, you’ll draw a raffle ticket. If it has a grape on it, you can take a grapevine home, too. We’ll hold a raffle during each time slot, so everyone has an equal chance!

You can register and find more information through this link.

As well as handing out saplings, there’s also a green market where you can learn more about greening, and there are activities for children.

For many years, the De Gezonde Stad Foundation has been bringing together residents, businesses and organisations to work on concrete greening initiatives in Amsterdam. From the iconic Verjaardagbos on the A10 ring road to Van Amsterdamse Bodem, Moestuinen voor Mokum and previous editions of Bomen voor Amsterdam: we make sustainability visible, achievable and appealing.
