The Silence We Inherit

The Silence We Inherit

A tragicomic storytelling show hacking family history via live-coded audio/visuals to break the silence.

Some inheritances aren’t written in wills; they are passed down through the things left completely unspoken.

Japanese storyteller Terra Norihiro Terazawa invites you into a tragicomic exploration of a family tree. Using live-coding audio and projections, Terra constructs a real-time soundscape to dig into a hidden history—revealing how a single action curved the trajectory of a family, echoing across generations into his father’s lifelong silence.

The Silence We Inherit explores the tension between our desire to erase painful pasts and the invisible weight of ancestry and human nature. This solo performance is a modern digital ritual to rewrite our inherited shadows and break the generational loop.

An unforgettable journey that asks: what are the silent inheritances you carry, and do you dare to finally look at them?
