The Human Machine

Harmony and mechanics of humanity depicted by prize winners of the Playground Competition, the percussion duo Thomas Fritzler and Miyaka Yotsumoto, presented in Splendor by Peter Prommel. Music by Cangelosi, Trevino, and Aperghis, among others.
The artists Fritzler and Yotsumoto have already won several prizes and are among the top percussion soloists in Germany. In this program they present music that allows them as players to play together like cogs of a machine. Yet there are other forces at play. Emotions arise; humanity comes along to watch during this technical tour de force of teamwork.
Thomas and Miyaka:
"The Human Machine is a cohesive and immersive concert with a duration of approximately 60 minutes. With a duo of percussionists, we deliberately break expectations to offer the audience a captivating and inspiring performance.
Our program explores the tension between functioning within an unrelenting society and embracing personalindividuality. Emotional outbursts, isolation, reconciliation, friction, and harmony merge into an intense experience.
We reinterpret well-known works and weave them into a narrative told through music. Pieces by artists such as Casey Cangelosi, Ivan Trevino, and Georges Aperghis come to life on a wide range of percussion instruments - including small and large drums, a tambourine, various bells, a vibraphone, and the blending
tones of a marimba."
