MAGIC CARPET SESSIONS | Adventurous, intimate & crossing borders with music from around the world!

TARAB MACHINE is an ensemble that fuses the hypnotic pulse of Middle Eastern music with the raw energy of modern rock and the freedom of jazz improvisation. Anchored by the voice and oud of Hussein, the group builds bold bridges between traditions, blending haunting maqam melodies, driving grooves, and shimmering textures.

Their genre-bending approach and powerful live performances have quickly earned them a place on the Belgian scene. Despite being a newly formed ensemble, they have already appeared at major events, including the Human’City Festival for BelRefugees (opening for Manu Chao), Plazey Festival in Koekelberg, and Brussels Jazz Weekend, among others.

Together, they transform tarab — the Arabic word for musical ecstasy — into a living, electrified experience.

TARAB Machine presents its debut EP: a bold and immersive sonic journey that announces the path ahead. The ancestral wisdom of Iraqi folklore is their starting point, and the powerful arrangements are their vehicle. Whilst it lifts us up, the potent mystical psychedelia grounds us in our bodies, back down to our feet, because the spiritual quest is no obstacle to a good dance!
