STRAIGHT TO VIDEO PRESENTS WINTERBEAST (1992)
Curators Lieuwe and Levente bring you the ultimate cult night every month with Straight to Video presents... Prepare for a wild cult film from the VHS era, filled with mind-boggling moments, rubbery rarities, and deranged dialogue.Aren’t you tired of the cold, wet, gloomy winter by now? Luckily, Straight to Video and LAB111 might have the cure for you! Join us for our last winter screening of Winterbeast, a movie that truly lives up to its title, as it neither takes place during wintertime nor features a single identifiable beast.
Instead, we’re launching an attack on all your senses with an arsenal of clay animation monsters who terrorize a sleepy Native American mountain town. Being a homebrew production shot by a skeleton crew, of course they run out of money prematurely, so they had to resume filming in an entirely different season (carefully minding that it still shouldn’t be winter), visibly downgrade the film format from 16mm to the cheaper 8mm, and forcing the lead to wear a fake dollar store moustache in a vain attempt to match his previous appearance.
Come and figure out with us what the clay monsters will butcher first: the girl who drops her bra upon her first appearance, or the general narrative continuity?
