Sons of the Culture Clash
Urban Dance Squad returns with new music under a new name! Singer/rapper Rudeboy and DJ DNA are joining forces once again, this time alongside three new band members. The result: brand-new tracks packed with energy, attitude, and that unmistakable sound that once took the world by storm.
New Name, Familiar Sound
In 2021, frontman Rudeboy decided to bring the Urban Dance Squad catalog back to the stage. He assembled a group of seasoned musicians and invited original UDS DJ DNA to be part of the project. Performing under the name Rudeboy Plays UDS ft. DJ DNA, the band revisited songs from across the entire Urban Dance Squad discography. Following successful tours in Belgium and France—including an appearance at Hellfest—the first Dutch shows sold out almost immediately. In the years that followed, the band continued to tour extensively, playing numerous sold-out shows and recapturing the improvisational spirit, musical freedom, and explosive energy that made the original Urban Dance Squad such a formidable live act.
This year, the next chapter begins. New music will be released through Sounds Haarlem/Suburban Records across two 10-inch vinyl releases. The signature blend of rap, rock, and turntables remains as vital as ever—raw, innovative, and instantly recognizable. That unique sound shines once again in full force. Starting this October, the band will hit the road with a set featuring both brand-new material and an arsenal of Urban Dance Squad classics.
Urban Dance Squad
As pioneers of the crossover genre, Urban Dance Squad had a profound influence on bands such as Rage Against the Machine. The group achieved international success and built a formidable reputation as one of the most exciting live acts of its era. They earned the respect and support of artists including Lenny Kravitz and were invited to tour as support for both David Bowie and U2. After releasing five studio albums and following a turbulent yet groundbreaking career, Urban Dance Squad disbanded in 2000. Today, Rudeboy and DJ DNA are carrying that legacy forward—while writing an exciting new chapter of their own.
