Sofia's Trip

A concert that takes you on a trip. Sofia's Trip is a live music experience by Lonelinoise, built around the works Sofia Gubaidulina wrote for bassoon. Bassoonist Thomas Dulfer took up the challenge of taking on this repertoire, lifting it out of the classical concert setting and reshaping it into a musical trip: Gubaidulina's compositions are interwoven with new work by composer Soheil Shayesteh, whose music draws on trance and electronic influences, folk music, and Western contemporary composition, featuring Soheil on kamancheh and Thomas on duduk.
Gubaidulina's music is earthly, confronting, rooted in the raw and the physical. Shayesteh's music reaches for the heavenly, pulling the sound upward into something more transcendent. Together they take you from the earthly to the heavenly.
