SENSORY
SENSORY is een immersieve installatie die erop gericht is categorische grenzen te overstijgen, door muziek, dans, gastronomie en design met elkaar te verweven tot een multisensorische ervaring. Via deze samensmelting nodigt SENSORY deelnemers uit in een wereld waar kunstvormen samenkomen, en zo een synthese van de zintuigen ontsteken.
De visuele elementen van de installatie, gekenmerkt door het contrast tussen donkere tonen en hardomlijnd licht, vormen het canvas waarop verschillende zintuiglijke ervaringen opkomen en afvloeien, terwijl geïmproviseerde en gestructureerde uitingen ontstaan te midden van het houtwerk en de verbrande texturen.
De oorsprong van het project ligt in het verlangen om mensen en praktijken uit gemarginaliseerde subculturen en dominante tradities met elkaar te verbinden door middel van creolisering en eclectiek — een gebaar richting een nieuwe vorm van hedendaagse hybriditeit.

Jesse Blom combineert muziek, beeld en performance tot gelaagde, interdisciplinaire werken, verrijkt door ontmoetingen met makers uit uiteenlopende disciplines. Zijn praktijk is geworteld in noties rondom obscuriteit: als esthetische bron van evocatie, als fenomenen die betekenis dragen buiten taal om, en als middel om tegenstellingen open te breken en nieuwe perspectieven te openen.

SENSORY
SENSORY is an immersive installation that aims to transcend categorical boundaries, intertwining music, dance, gastronomy, and design to create a multi-sensory experience. Through this blend, SENSORY invites participants into a realm where art forms converge and collide, igniting a synthesis of the senses.
The installation's visual elements, characterized by the contrast of dark tones and bursts of hard-edged light, serve as the canvas on which different sensory experiences ebb and flow, as improvised and structured expressions emerge amidst the upcycled woodwork and burnt textures.
The conception of the project can be traced back to a desire of uniting people and practices from marginalized subcultures and dominant traditions through creolization and eclecticism—gesturing toward a novel form of contemporary hybridity.

Jesse Blom combines music, visual imagery, and performance into layered, interdisciplinary works, enriched by encounters with creators from diverse fields. His practice is rooted in notions of obscurity: as an aesthetic source of evocation, as phenomena that carry meaning beyond language, and as a means of dismantling oppositions to open up new perspectives.
