Radie Peat

Radie Peat
Influential singer in contemporary Irish folk

With a stunning vocal range and a keen sense of irony, Radie Peat captures the essence of the Irish folk tradition in her music. The singer and multi-instrumentalist is considered one of the most influential voices in contemporary Irish folk and is celebrated for her powerful alto voice, impressive vocal control, and great emotional expressiveness. Her musical journey began at a young age, when she learned to play the concertina and performed with her sisters at traditional Irish sessions.

During her teenage years, Peat found refuge in music and began her close collaboration with Cormac Mac Diarmada. Together with Ian and Daragh Lynch, they later founded Lankum, which grew to become one of the most important innovators in contemporary Irish folk. Peat is also a co-founder of ØXN, in which she explores the darker side of the Irish storytelling and singing tradition alongside Katie Kim, Eleanor Myler, and John “Spud” Murphy through haunting doom-folk and poignant laments.
