PREN-Ki Suriname Short Film Festival (Day 1)

About ‘PREN-Ki Suriname Short Film Festival’
The PREN-Ki Suriname Short Film Festival, founded by The Under Foundation in Suriname, is a stage for talent, creativity and passion. Our vision is to grow PREN-Ki into an annual event that inspires more Surinamese filmmakers in Suriname to share their stories with the world. PREN, derived from the Dutch word “prent” or “foto,” emphasizes that a film consists of a series of images that together form a visual work of art. Ki is derived from the Sranang Tongo (Surinamese) word “kino,” which simply means “film.” The name embodies the idea that film is a powerful means of conveying ideas and emotions through moving images.
The PREN-Ki Festival offers filmmakers a platform to showcase their work and nurture the Surinamese film industry. This collaboration with Ventilator Cinema in Amsterdam will present the films from the second PREN-Ki edition in Suriname. The intention is to increase the visibility of independent Surinamese filmmakers to a new international audience.
