Podcastakademie: Mixen en masteren

In the Mixing and Mastering course, podcast maker Marius Kooij (known for De Groentjes, Jonge Jaren) teaches you how to improve the audio quality of your recordings through post-production in your editing software. You will learn why mixing and mastering are essential, how to ensure your podcast sounds good even in noisy environments, and how to give your productions their own unique sound.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a simple strategy to enhance your audio and make your recordings ready for publication according to standard podcast norms. The course is taught using Reaper (a free editing program), but the theory applies to any editing software. It doesn’t matter what kind of podcast you create!
– When: Wednesdays, December 3, 10 & 17, 2025, from 19:15 to 21:45
– Registration deadline: November 19, 2025
– Instructor: Marius Kooij
Session 1 (December 3)
Why is mixing necessary? You’ll learn that in this session. Marius will also explain how to prepare your mix properly and introduce the equalizer (EQ): what is the frequency spectrum, and how does EQ actually work?
Session 2 (December 10)
In this session, you will learn more about the importance of compression and dynamics. How can you use automation to your advantage? And why is it useful to work with a so-called ‘mix bus’?
Session 3 (December 17)
You will prepare your mix for publication through mastering. What is mastering? We’ll also cover your mindset while mixing and discuss the final essential steps in the mixing and mastering process. For example: where are you in the (mix) chain?
You have experience with a DAW and preferably have edited a podcast before (with or without mixing and mastering). If you are unsure about your skills or equipment, please contact us at akademie@podcastnetwerk.nl.
During his studies at the conservatory, Marius became fascinated by the other side of music: recording and mixing. He discovered he finds the most peace in making voices sound calm and pleasant.
He now does this for his own podcast De Groentjes, as well as Jonge Jaren and many other talk shows. Besides teaching the craft of podcast mixing, Marius hopes to share the joy he finds in mixing.
