Pink Flamingos (1972)

Pink Flamingos (1972)

Together with Fanclub Centrum, we invite a special 'Amsterdammer' every two months to curate a film night. This time, especially for Pride, we have a double bill! With DJ, producer and organiser Joost van Bellen, we’ll be watching John Waters’ 1972 cult classic ‘Pink Flamingos’. Before that, at 7 pm, we’ll be watching Lukas Moodysson’s 1998 romantic drama ‘Fucking Åmål’ together with actor/filmmaker Marije van der Made; separate tickets are available for this screening.

The black comedy “Pink Flamingos” is brimming with extravagance, rebellion and unprecedented eccentricity. Divine, as the self-proclaimed “dirtiest person in the world”, takes on a rival duo who want to steal her title. The film is known for its shocking and grotesque scenes, but beneath the provocation lies a celebration of freedom, individuality and the breaking of all conventions. A daring, groundbreaking cult classic!

Melkweg often hosts different types of programmes at the same time, such as concerts, club nights and films. Please note that there may occasionally be some noise pollution from other programmes during the screening.
