Pay to Destroy

Pay to Destroy
Interactive activist performance about consumerism by Gagi Petrovic and Modelo62

Pay to Destroy is an interactive performance by Gagi Petrovic en Modelo62 about how our consumer behavior harms the planet and how we – often unconsciously – contribute to this. Visitors are invited to use their mobile phones during the performance, allowing them to influence the music in real time. The audience thus acts as 'agents of pollution’ of the music, which constantly changes through their actions.

Gagi creates electronic music, including with his self-developed instrument GEST. Prior to the performance, Gagi conducts extensive research into the theme and explores how his instrument GEST can be used for algorithmic real-time translation of visitor input. Pay to Destroy premiered at Rewire festival, where the performance was positively received.
