The American suburbs, today. When his wife Ashley suddenly asks for a divorce, the good-natured, somewhat naive Carey (Kyle Marvin) falls apart and seeks comfort with his best friends Julie (Dakota Johnson) and Paul, the seemingly perfect couple. To his astonishment, the secret to their marital bliss turns out to be an open relationship — a revelation that stirs something in Carey. But when he crosses a line he should never have crossed, the friendship between the two couples spirals into an avalanche of jealousy, desire and hilarious physical combat. Director Michael Angelo Covino shapes his screwball farce (billed as an “unromantic comedy”) about fidelity, desire and modern relationships into an exuberant ensemble piece, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
