Museum Night 2026

Once again, Waag is taking part in the Amsterdam Museum Night. From 19:00 hrs, the doors of the historic Waag building will open, and you are welcome to take part in various workshops and performances, and visit the exhibition Fluid Futures.

Expo: Fluid Futures

In Fluid Futures, artists explore the complex relationships between humans, technology and aquatic ecosystems. Through artistic experiments, they look beyond the human perspective and respond to pressing climate issues.

Plastic Healing: Water Memories

Continuous soundscape, performances 22:00 - 22:20 hrs & 23:00 - 23:20 hrs

Multidisciplinary artist Roos Pollmann // ROOSPEEE takes you on a journey through a live meditative soundscape of water, electronic instruments and singing bowls.

Workshop: Make your own eco-friendly cleaning products

Start 19:00 hrs & 20:15 hrs

What happens to cleaning products once they go down the drain? Many industrial cleaning products smell lovely and promise a clean home, but contain substances that are difficult to break down. In this workshop, we’ll be experimenting with a different approach: you’ll make simple cleaning products using herbs, plants and kitchen scraps.

At the end of the workshop, you can take your cleaning creations home with you.

Workshop: Making Data Move

Start 19:30 hrs & 21:30 hrs

Using sensors, motors and light, artist Kerrie O’Leary brings data to life. She works with data on ecological patterns such as animal migration, air quality, rainfall and coastal erosion. During Museum Night, you’ll get hands-on and discover how to connect microcontrollers and sensors, and learn how to translate data into movement and light.

For this workshop, no coding experience is required!

Algodance

Continuous

Instagram accounts belonging to queer people and sex workers are being blocked time and time again. Meta’s platforms are no longer safe digital spaces where everyone is free to communicate with one another in their own way. Algodance introduces coded dance as a form of underground communication for social media. Not just another viral TikTok trend, but a secret message, woven into movement, to evade Meta’s ban. Learn the moves and encode your own message in dance.
