Meet-a-Maker
Come to Mediamatic to have a talk with an artist in our restaurant by the water! Learn more about their work or talk about your project with the artist who inspires you. Renske Tiemersma is open to creative consultation and discussing ideas.
Meet-a-Maker is a 30-minute session to have a one-on-one talk with artists currently working at Mediamatic. We are lucky to be inspired by the many artists who work and stay with us for exhibitions, residencies and workshops. We welcome you to meet them and be inspired as well!
About the artist
Renske Tiemersma is a HKU graduate and a neurodivergent artist who makes interactive installations, costumes and drawings. The starting point for Renske are often sensory experiences. She experiences both a craving for and an aversion to sensory stimuli, which are related to her neurodiversity. Particularly texture, weight, space, light, facial expressions, or pressure on the body are important themes in her work.
During her time as a student autism ambassador at HKU, she saw how important it is to talk about neurodiversity openly, and listen to what neurodiverse people have to say. That’s why she creates work that sparks and facilitates conversation—art that invites people to experience, connect, and share their own perspectives.
Renske speaks Dutch and English.
Topics
The conversations with are meant for anyone whose main topics of interest are:
- Neurodiversity, adhd and autism, specifically relating to art and art practice.
- How to use neurodiverse peoples perspective to better the spaces we live in
- The art of touch, finding materials that work for you
- How to make art an experience, and why you want that
- How to not get a burnout when graduating from art school and starting as an artist

You can choose a 30-minute time slot between 17:00 and 17:30.

Artists/Students discount €7,50*
*We give a discount to students, artists and Stadspas holders. If this applies to you we might ask to see your kvk nr/portfolio or student card for this option.
