Come to Mediamatic to have a talk with an artist in our restaurant by the water! Learn more about their work or talk about your project with the artist who inspires you. Matilde Stolfa is open to creative consultation and discussing ideas.
Meet-a-Maker is a 30-minute session to have a one-on-one talk with artists currently working at Mediamatic. We are lucky to be inspired by the many artists who work and stay with us for exhibitions, residencies and workshops. We welcome you to meet them and be inspired as well!
About the artist
Born in Ravenna, Italy, in 1996 and based in Rotterdam, Matilde Stolfa is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher whose practice revolves around the investigation of the interdependencies between environment, dwelling, socioeconomic and cultural factors in an age of extreme climate change.
Her research specifically focuses on the relationship between water and land, grounding her work in shallow waters, intertidal zones, marshes and overall in transitional spaces. Through site-specific and site-responsive installations, documentary, photography and material research she crafts immersive and intuitive narratives. Matilde sees herself as a storyteller, constantly crafting new narratives that explore and adapt to our changing coastlines and rising sea levels.

Topics
The conversations with Matilde are meant for anyone whose main topics of interest are:
- The transformation of water landscapes and coastal areas in relationship with rising sea levels and extreme climate events.
- Shifts in human activities and space production: how do our economy and society shape the landscapes.
- The development of artistic languages and tools to embrace and adapt to changing environments while looking at traditional practices.
- To discuss and review video and photo based projects or storytelling.

Both 30-minute time slots are from 16:00-16:30 & 17:00-17:30.

Artists/Students discount €7,50
