Together with her husband Amadou, Mariam Doumbia has been making music that is loved worldwide for more than forty years. In 1991, the couple released their songs on cassette for the first time, after which they were invited to perform in Paris. The album Dimanche a Bamako was a huge success and led to tours, awards, and fame throughout Africa and Europe.

In their music, the duo blended an eclectic fusion of genres with traditional and modern instruments. In recent years, this has led to collaborations with Damon Albarn (Blur), Manu Chao, Santigold, Sofi Tukker, and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, among others.

After Amadou's death earlier this year, Mariam released the single “L'amour à la folie,” a loving tribute to her husband. The song is the first single from their long-awaited self-titled album, to be released in the fall later this year. On March 29, we welcome the powerful songstress back with a show in our MAX hall.
