Ever wanted to make your own shoes? In this workshop, you’ll learn to create barefoot shoes from beautiful leftover leather, fully tailored to your own feet.

There’s something magical about making your own shoes – using supple leftover leather from the fashion and furniture industries, you’ll craft a unique, comfortable pair of barefoot shoes that truly let your feet feel the ground. You’ll learn to work with a simple, adaptable pattern, how to handwork the leather, and how to choose from a variety of leather types and colors. Everyone makes their own pair of shoes (high-top autumn edition!) and takes the pattern home. A tribute to traditional craftsmanship and to the material itself, working with respect for animals and nature.

Anke Wijnja connects people with themselves and with nature through her company The Nature Connection. She’s based at De Ceuvel, where she also manages the Purifying Park. Anke has extensive knowledge of nature and all that grows and blooms, which she shares with great enthusiasm. In addition to being a craftswoman, she’s an avid forager and teaches outdoor mindfulness.
