Craft workshops in leatherwork at De Ceuvel:

Supple shoes that fit your feet like a glove and allow you to feel the earth beneath you. Making your own shoes has something magical about it – shaping beautiful leather under your hands into something you can truly walk through city and countryside in... You create a garment you genuinely connect with, made from surplus leather from the fashion and furniture industries.

Beautiful pieces of leather that would otherwise be discarded. Workshop content: You will learn to work with a simple shoe pattern and how to adjust this pattern to fit your own foot. You’ll learn more about leather, how to transfer your pattern, and how to process the leather. How to hand-stitch and finish leather. There are two different types of shoes for different levels of sewing or crafting experience, so everyone can go home with a pair of shoes at the end of the afternoon.

Of course, there are also various types and colours of leather for you to choose from, and you’ll take the pattern home with you as well! ‘I used to prefer walking barefoot everywhere. I love feeling the changes in texture, hardness, and temperature of the ground beneath me, but in the city that became too unsafe.

Anke Wijnja connects people with themselves and with nature through her company The Nature Connection. She is based at De Ceuvel, where she is, among other things, the manager of the Purifying Park. Anke has extensive knowledge of nature and everything that grows and blooms, and shares this with great enthusiasm. In addition to being a craftster, she is an avid wild forager and teaches outdoor mindfulness.
