Make Banners and Signs for ADEV
Make Banners and Protest Signs for ADEV
- Friday 16 October, 15:00–17:30
- At De Ceuvel, in the Maakbar + Ceuvel Square
- Participation is free and no registration is needed. Just drop by!
On 24 October, we’ll dance through the streets of Amsterdam-Noord during ADEV – Amsterdam Danst Ergens Voor. Under the slogan Hou Noord Gestoord! (Keep Noord Weird!), various activist groups, free spaces and organisations from Noord will come together to raise awareness of the consequences of gentrification and fight to preserve free spaces and local amenities in the neighbourhood.
At De Ceuvel, we’re getting ready for ADEV together: we’ll make signs and banners to take our message to the streets. We’ll do this together with the Creërende Heren, creative set builders who have their studio at De Ceuvel.
Everyone is welcome to join. Come up with your own slogan, paint a protest sign, create a large banner or help make something together. No experience is needed: we’ll have materials, examples and people around to help you get started. Children are also welcome when accompanied by an adult.
Not joining the demonstration yourself? You can still make a sign or banner! We’ll bring your creation along and make sure it hits the streets during ADEV.
Practical Information
We’ll provide cardboard, paint, brushes, stencils, markers and spray paint.
Feel free to bring your own materials to reuse, such as old sheets or pieces of fabric for banners, or wooden boards, panels, slats or sticks for protest signs.
Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
